Any RA and Dec can be used to find spectra in SAS, but since the SDSS has not imaged the entire sky, it will save you a lot of time if you pick one from the Constellation Notebook. Here’s how:
- Go to the Constellation Notebook
- Scroll down to find a constellation that you are interested in. The right-hand side of the page displays locations within that constellation where the SDSS has data.
- In the Plate Coverage column, click any plate link to go to the complete list of spectra captured on that plate.
- You are now in SAS. Bookmark this page.
