From Constellation Notebook to SAS Spectra List

Any RA and Dec can be used to find spectra in SAS, but since the SDSS has not imaged the entire sky, it will save you a lot of time if you pick one from the Constellation Notebook. Here’s how:

  • Go to theĀ Constellation Notebook
  • Scroll down to find a constellation that you are interested in. The right-hand side of the page displays locations within that constellation where the SDSS has data.
  • In the Plate Coverage column, click any plate link to go to the complete list of spectra captured on that plate.
  • You are now in SAS. Bookmark this page.
