Launch into the SDSS

Every Voyage starts and ends here on Earth. The Sloan Digital Sky Survey telescope at Apache Point, New Mexico, gathers light from distant stars and galaxies and delivers that data to engineers and astronomers who process the information. The data are stored as image files and tables of numbers in the SDSS database. Learn about the SDSS telescope and database here in Launch to the SDSS.
