The purpose of the Science Archive Server or SAS is to provide astronomers, students and the general public with images and spectra which are the primary results generated by the survey.   SAS focuses on retrieving and displaying these primary results of the Sloan Digital Sky Survey III.  This is also the site that professional astronomers can use to access the original, unprocessed data.   Information calculated or derived from these primary sources of information are the focus of the SkyServer.  Links to relevant information in SkyServer are provided throughout SAS.
